WHEN YOU VISIT WITH US
Visiting a new church can be intimidating: What should I wear? Where do I park? We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to contact us or talk with an usher when you visit.

When are services?
You can find a full list of our Mass Times (and Reconciliation) here.

What should I wear?
We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you're joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you're wearing. In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others prefer to still put on their "Sunday best," and that's fine too! However, we do request that shorts be of a conservative length (no “short-shorts”) and that in general, clothing be respectable and conservative.

How do I get to St. Joseph?
St. Joseph is located at 514 Lincoln Avenue, Rio. Here is a map.

How do I get to St. Thomas the Apostle?
St. Thomas the Apostle is located at 655 S. Main Street, Poynette. Here is a map.

Where should I park?
- St. Thomas the Apostle has a parking lot to park

- St Joseph parking is on the street

I’m not Catholic, is it okay for me to participate in communion?

The Catholic Church does not practise or recognise open communion. In general it permits access to its Eucharistic communion only to baptized Catholics.Catholics can only receive Holy Communion if they are in a state of grace, this is without any mortal sin: "A person who is conscious of grave sin (mortal sin) is not to celebrate Mass or receive the body of the Lord without previous sacramental confession unless there is a grave reason and there is no opportunity to confess; in this case the person is to remember the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition which includes the resolution of confessing as soon as possible."

In lieu of Holy Communion, some parishes invite non-Catholics to come forward in the line, with their arms crossed over their chest, and receive a blessing from the priest

Am I expected to put money in the offering?
If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider our parish your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving on a weekly basis. You can give by check or cash during the service.
